2014 Land Rover Defender Challenge announced

By Damion Smy Motor Industry 30 October 2013 12:01 Land Rover has confirmed that it is the official sponsor of the 2014 ‘Defender Challenger by Bowler’, which will see a field of up to 15 tricked-up Defender 90s hit the rough stuff as crews get down and dirty, Dakar style. It’s all about enticing those who are curious about rally raids, such as the legendary Dakar event that’s held early each year. A lack of experience, as well as costs, has made it difficult for novices looking to qualify for the necessary licence, so the Defender Challenge is ideal for rally wannabes looking to dip a toe in the water, so to speak, with no experience required to enter.

Jeep Renegade Concept

Chrysler has revealed three sketches of new concepts it is scheduled to unveil at the Detroit Auto Show in January. One of these is the Jeep Renegade Concept, a sporty B-segment-sized two-seater the automaker claims is ideally suited for the all-weather delights of off-roading and dune surfing. The design of the vehicle is a futuristic take on the existing open-topped Jeep Wrangler, featuring a cut-down speedster windshield, a roll bar, openings in the door lowers and a hose-out interior.

Here's a short video of the McLaren 650S lapping the Monza racetrack in Italy. The 3-minute, 40-second clip features the company's latest supercar doing high-speed pass-bys and revving engines at the gas station. The footage came out of the “Pure McLaren Driving Experience,” an event put together for company VIPs.
